Our Healthy Challenge Update
The Healthy Challenge has been going on for almost two months now and we are delighted that so many of you are involved. (We now have almost 500 participants!) Mindy Curry-Masales
We are happy to introduce you to Mindy Curry-Masales of Whitehouse, OH! Mindy has lost over 60 pounds thanks to Weight Watchers, Curves for Women, and True Lemon®!
It all started back in July 2005 when Mindy went to the doctor because of the weight she had put on from quitting smoking. “I told the doctor there must be something wrong with me because I just seemed to put on more and more weight. She ran a lot of tests on me and the outcome was that I just was plain fat.”
The doctor told her to exercise everyday and to join Weight Watchers. So Mindy did just that and started losing weight in the first week. Her only problem was drinking her daily recommended amount of water, which she solved when she found True Lemon®. (The general recommendation is that you drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.)

February is American Heart Month!
Cardiovascular disease is the single greatest cause of death in the United States each year and the number one killer of women (nearly half a million women a year). According to the American Heart Association, cardiovascular disease claims more lives than the next six most common causes of death combined. Since 1963, Congress has designated February as American Heart Month. Each year, the American Heart Association’s volunteers visit their neighbors and strive to raise funds for research and education and as well as raising awareness about heart disease and stroke.
The American Heart Association notes that the following risk factors can be treated or controlled just by changing your lifestyle:
- Tobacco smoke
- High blood cholesterol
- High blood pressure
- Physical inactivity
- Obesity and overweight
- Diabetes mellitus
Help prevent heart disease! Here are some things you can do to help your heart:
- Schedule a yearly checkup
- Get a physical
- Drink more water
- Eat healthy
- Limit your intake of fat
- Control cholesterol
- Quit smoking
- Maintain a healthy weight
- Exercise
- Limit your intake of sugars, sodium/salt, and alcohol

“My husband has a history of kidney stones, which are excruciatingly painful. His doctor suggested that he switch from colas to lemonade. He told him that citrate displaces oxalate in the body, and consuming citrate could help. So he started drinking lemonade, and sure enough, the bouts of stones have stopped. However, commercial lemonade is also loaded with sugar (It has more sugar than many colas.), so he dilutes it at least 2:1 or 3:1. To keep it from tasting like water, he adds packets of True Lemon® (1 packet per glass) which boosts both the taste and the citrate level. He also travels with packets of True Lemon® in his pocket so he can make lemonade on the road.”
