Slow-Braised True Orange Pork Ribs
print
Description
Create full-flavored, meltingly tender pork ribs tonight! Combine cayenne pepper & True Orange for a sweet-and-spicy, fall-off-the-bone sensation.Ingredients
1 Tablespoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Fresh Cracked Pepper
2 teaspoons Cayenne Pepper
15 Packets True Orange
2 Oranges
Fresh Thyme
Fresh Sage
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
2. In a small bowl combine your salt, pepper, cayenne, and True Orange.
3. Take your dry rub and sprinkle it generously over both sides of the ribs.
4. Slice your oranges in half and squeeze the juice into the bottom of a roasted pan. Add your fresh thyme and sage to the roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with enough water so there is an inch deep of water.
5. Add your ribs to the pan so they stand up. Lean them against the edge of the pan, or rest them on top of a turkey resting pan or something similar. In addition to the liquids you’ve prepared in the bottom of the pan, fats and juices from the ribs themselves will render off during the cooking process. It is important that the ribs are not submerged so that they do not boil. You want them to braise, not boil.
6. Cover the roasting pan twice in plastic wrap so there is no moisture escaping the pan. Wrap completely with tin foil so the plastic wrap doesn’t melt.
7. Place in the oven and let cook 5 hours. Do not touch, peek, or open the plastic wrap; just let them cook! After 5 hours, remove from the oven and let cool. Before serving, place the slabs on the grill to heat through and crisp up.
8. Serve and enjoy!
