Pecan Cream Cheese Bars


1 cup brown sugar
1 cup flour
½ cup pecans, chopped
1 cup butter or margarine
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese (do not use fat free – only regular or reduced fat)
¼ cup sugar
1 egg
2 tablespoons milk
2 True Lemon® packets or ¼ teaspoon True Lemon® from shaker
1 teaspoon vanilla or vanilla extract
¼ cup additional chopped pecans, for topping


  1. Mix brown sugar, flour and pecans.
  2. Stir in melted butter or margarine. Blend.
  3. Remove ⅓ cup of mixture and set aside for topping.
  4. Pat remaining mixture into greased 8-inch square pan.
  5. Bake 15 minutes at 350 F.
  6. Remove from oven.

Filling

  1. Beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth.
  2. Add egg, True Lemon® and vanilla. Blend.
  3. Pour over the baked crust, covering completely.
  4. Top with remaining crumb mixture and additional chopped pecans.
  5. Bake 25 minutes.
  6. Cool and cut into bars. Yields 16 squares.
  7. Cover loosely and refrigerate.
