SUPER FAN CAROLYN DILLON

We love hearing about the lives of our customers, and our Super Fan Carolyn Dillon’s life story is one of perseverance, faith, determination and family.

Orphaned at a young age, Carolyn, the youngest of seven, was raised by her great aunt. “Even though things were tough, I have always had a great faith in God and I always paid attention to people who could teach me things I needed to know. I was also blessed to have some people in my life who believed in me and encouraged me to always do my best.”

Carolyn did well in school and shortly after graduating from high school married Reginald, who was a proud member of the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II. After having three children, Carolyn was once again faced with adversity when Reginald died, leaving her a widow with young children to support. Not long after however, fate intervened and brought Carolyn back together with her childhood sweetheart, Louis, whom she had know since she was three. In 1976, Louis and Carolyn got married and Louis adopted Carolyn’s three children.

Carolyn recently retired from the Human Resource Department at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA). It was at Carnegie Mellon that Carolyn was introduced to True Lemon®. “I love the added boost True Lemon® gives to food or drinks. It perks up the flavor of iced tea, Pepsi, salad dressings and ice water. Because True Lemon® doesn’t spoil, I keep at least a dozen packets in my car’s emergency bag. When I meet friends for lunch or coffee at an unfamiliar eatery, I make sure I am carrying a couple of packets in case the beverage is not quite up to par. I also love to use True Lemon® in my recipes.” (See below for Carolyn’s favorite cookie recipe featuring True Lemon®.)

Even though Carolyn is now retired she has a lot to keep her busy. In addition to her children and grandchildren, Carolyn is an accomplished dressmaker, doll maker, and quilt maker, knits and crochets, and is a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church’s choir; a choir so accomplished that they have had the honor of singing at the National Cathedral in Washington DC for the last three years.

Having lived a life where she has experienced great sadness and great happiness, Carolyn reflects on what has kept her at peace during both the good and bad times. “I always spend some time alone. No phone, no company, none of the distractions of our very busy lives. For me, this alone time means being alone in nature with God. It allows me to reflect and recharge.”
