How to Hydrate Without Drinking Water

At True Citrus, were always toting the benefits of increasing your water intake. From boosting weight loss efforts to clearing up your skin, it seems that the fountain of youth may have just been brimming with good old fashioned H2O!

The challenge really seems to be drinking enough water each day. We have figured out how much water is healthy, but what is the secret to meeting those requirements without feeling overwhelmed? We've learned a few swaps you can make to fit in more hydration everyday without actually drinking regular water.

How to Hydrate Without Actually Drinking Plain Water

Yogurt with Fresh Fruit - VS - Muffin or Pastry

Although a muffin might be easy to grab in the morning, all of the water it would have contained evaporates during the baking process. Opt for full-fat Greek yogurt (or a low-sugar dairy alternative yogurt) with fresh berries instead. Yogurt contains a lot of water, as does fresh fruit!

Soup and Salad - VS - Sandwich

At lunchtime, opt for a brothy soup with lots of water-heavy vegetables like carrots and celery. Store-bought versions often contain a lot of sodium, so try prepping a large batch of homemade soup before your week begins. Vegetables also contain a lot of water, so tacking on a leafy green side salad topped with cucumbers and tomatoes will easily add another cup or two of water intake to your day.

Water with True Lemon - VS - Sports or Electrolyte Drink

Adding True Lemon to plain water will actually increase your likelihood to drink more. Although sports and electrolyte drinks will help you to hold on to water, they are full of added sodium and sugar which will create the need for you to drink more water in the long run.

Hot Tea - VS - Wine

Although it may be tempting to reach for a glass of wine at the end of the day to wind down, it is better to choose something that's as hydrating as it is comforting. Decaffeinated herbal teas such as chamomile, Rooibos, or a Sleepytime blend will prepare your body for rest rather than disrupt the sleep cycle (which occurs with alcohol consumption). This will add another cup of water to your day without an extra thought.

By including these suggestions in your daily routine and boosting your overall water intake whenever you can, you'll be more hydrated (and healthier) than ever!
