There are times that life can feel overwhelmingly hard. Whether from the stress of managing a busy schedule, trying to heal from illness or heartbreak, or balancing finances and money woes - there are plenty of components that can throw our happiness and contentment off balance.
There are however some important questions to ask yourself to make sure that you are on the best possible track in improving your life.
These are questions that will probe into who you really are, and what you really want out of life. Questions that are vital to personal growth and to help get on the path towards living a more fulfilling life overall.
What are some questions to ask yourself for a happier life?
These are some basic guidelines to help outline finding your own unique answers. Grab a pen, a treasured journal, or start typing on your computer. Feel free to write as long as you need to, but exploring the answers to these questions will help you to gain perspective on what your true values are, and where you need to go from here.
When was the last time I changed my mind about something - whether a deeply held belief, or simply a stance within an argument?
Explore why you’re holding on to that belief. Have you ever questioned your stance? Have you spent time reflecting on someone’s opinions or feelings from the other side? Are you holding on to an ideal with blind certainty, without asking yourself if you still believe those things to be true?
Do I want to change something in my life?
If the answer is “yes” then move on to: What do I want to change? What small action steps can I take to change it? How will this change affect other areas of my life? Will those results be entirely positive, or could the impact potentially be negative?
Am I the best person I can be?
Think about the people you admire the most. Do you emanate the same positive qualities that they do, or can you use their lives as inspiration for improvement? Remember that your life is unique, and although these mentors can inspire, your path is ultimately your own.
Am I truly happy?
Consider your job, your house, your lifestyle, the friends and family you surround yourself with. Do they bring you joy? Are there areas that need some work? How can you work towards improving them?
What is truly important in my life?
Making money? Having a comfortable home? Having a healthy and nurturing relationship? Losing weight? Having an expensive car? Travelling? What really matters to you?
How do I define success in my life?
The answer to this question should not be a comparison to others around you. Your success depends on how you and you alone define success.
What do I need to let go of?
Whether anger, resentment, an overload of material items, holding on to these things can build walls around us and prevent us from moving forward.
Wherever your true happiness may live, these are great questions that will help explore your heart and your mind. Finding the answers to these questions will guide you towards leading a more fulfilling life, as long as you’re willing to take the lead in creating new and positive changes.
