Cooking Equivalents
Whether you're a beginner or a burgeoning chef, accurately following a recipe can be a little confusing. Not all recipes are written the same and cooking measurement abbreviations can be different for each. And what if you want to cut a recipe in half which includes measurements that are already fractions?

Common Abbreviations Found in Recipes
# = pound
c = cup
gal = gallon
lbs = pounds
oz = ounce
pt = pint
qt = quart
T or Tbsp = tablespoon
t or tsp = teaspoon
fl = fluid
Measuring Equivalents for Cooking and Recipes
Dash or pinch = less than 1/8 teaspoon
1/2 teaspoon = 30 drops
1/4 teaspoon = 15 drops
1 teaspoon = 1/3 tablespoon
3 teaspoons = 1 tablespoon
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
2 tablespoons = 1/8 cup
4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup
5 tablespoons + 1 teaspoon = 1/3 cup
8 tablespoons = 1/2 cup
10 tablespoons + 2 teaspoons = 2/3 cup
12 tablespoons = 3/4 cup

Jigger = 1 1/2 fluid ounces
measure = 1 1/2 fluid ounces
dash = less than 1/4 teaspoon
1 cup = 8 fluid ounces
2 cups = 16 fluid ounces
4 cups = 32 fluid ounces
2 pints = 32 fluid ounces
4 quarts = 128 fluid ounces
8 quarts = 256 fluid ounces or one peck
4 pecks = one bushel
